The project is built honestly. The threat model, the system design, the trigger detection, the alert flow, the audit log, the consent receipts — all designed and implemented in the open. The project no longer recruits pilot families and will not run a public deployment. The threat environment in this region and the realities of who tries to harm projects like this make a public, recruited pilot a worse-than-useless idea right now. Whether we can ever bring this to thirty dollars per family — through bulk Chinese sourcing of the same chips — is a question for next year, not today. If we go down that path, we will write here exactly what changed and why. Knowing who the child is talking to.২. শিশু কার সঙ্গে কথা বলছে — জানার চেষ্টা। An idea has been raised: could the device tell whether the voice talking near the child belongs to a known adult or an unknown one? This is technically possible. It is ethically hard. People other than the child do not consent to having their voice analysed. A misclassified neighbour or teacher could cause real harm. If we ever build this — and we may not — it will be after independent ethics review, with explicit opt-in, with the voice library kept on-device only, and with a hard rule that the system never auto-fires an alert from this signal alone.
